Dominant groups

Analysis of the car ownership of the households with recent arrivals in the City of Maroondah in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that 94.6% of recent arrivals were in households who owned at least one car and 4.5% were not, compared with 83.8% and 14.6% respectively in Greater Melbourne.

Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a larger proportion who owned just one car, a larger proportion who owned two cars, and a smaller proportion who owned three cars or more.

Overall, 43.9% of recent arrivals were in households who owned one car, 37.4% owned two cars, and 13.3% owned three cars or more, compared with 38.6%, 29.7% and 15.5% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
