Dominant groups

Analysis of household income levels for non-English speakers households in the City of Maroondah in 2021 compared to the total households in the City of Maroondah shows that there was a smaller proportion of non-English speakers in high income households (those earning $3,000 per week or more) and a higher proportion of low income households (those earning less than $800 per week).

Overall, 28.5% of non-English speakers were in households who earned a high income, and 12.8% were in low income households, compared with 33.8% and 11.8% respectively for the total households in the City of Maroondah.

The major differences between the incomes levels for non-English speakers in households in the City of Maroondah and the total population in the City of Maroondah were:

  • A larger percentage of people in households who earned $1,250 - $1,499 (7.6% compared to 6.3%)
  • A larger percentage of people in households who earned $2,000 - $2,499 (13.3% compared to 12.3%)
