The size of the City of Maroondah's labour force needing assistance in 2011 was 374, of which 153 were employed part-time and 121 were full time workers.

Analysis of the people employment status (as a percentage of the labour force) in the City of Maroondah in 2011 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a similar proportion in employment, as well as a similar proportion unemployed. Overall, 87.2% of the labour force needing assistance was employed (7.7% of the people population aged 15+), and 12.8% unemployed (1.1% of the people population aged 15+), compared with 86.9% and 13.1% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
