Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in The Hills Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Construction (6,991 males or 14.0%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (6,489 males or 13.0%)
- Financial and Insurance Services (4,326 males or 8.7%)
In combination, these three industries employed 17,806 males in total or 35.7% of the total employed male resident population.
In comparison, Rouse Hill employed 13.8% in Construction; 11.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 7.2% in Financial and Insurance Services.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of The Hills Shire and Rouse Hill were:
- A larger percentage of males employed in financial and insurance services (8.7% compared to 7.2%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (4.8% compared to 6.3%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in public administration and safety (5.3% compared to 6.6%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (3.9% compared to 5.2%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed males in The Hills Shire increased by 7,810 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2016 and 2021 in The Hills Shire were for those employed in:
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+1,693 males)
- Financial and Insurance Services (+1,394 males)
- Construction (+1,032 males)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+914 males)
