Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in The Hills Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (6,991 males or 14.0%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (6,489 males or 13.0%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (4,326 males or 8.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 17,806 males in total or 35.7% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Rouse Hill employed 13.8% in Construction; 11.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 7.2% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of The Hills Shire and Rouse Hill were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in financial and insurance services (8.7% compared to 7.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (4.8% compared to 6.3%)
