Location and boundaries

Bella Vista is bounded by the suburb of Kellyville in the north, Brighton Drive, Edgewater Drive, Norwest Boulevard, Reston Grange, Barina Downs Road, Coorumbene Court and the suburb of Baulkham Hills in the east, Chapel Lane and Seven Hills Road in the south, and Old Windsor Road in the west.

Name origin

Bella Vista is thought to be named after an original property in the area.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from 1799 when the first land grant was made. Land was used mainly for farming, with orchards from the late 1800s. Substantial residential development did not occur until the 1990s. Rapid growth took place from the early 1990s, with the population increasing five-fold between 1991 and 2011, a result of large numbers of new dwellings being added to the area.

Land use

Bella Vista is a recent residential area, with industrial land use in the northern section, and some commercial land use.

Major features

Major features of the area include Norwest Homemaker Centre, Circa Retail Shopping Centre, part of Norwest Business Park, Norwest Private Hospital, Bella Vista Farm Park, Bella Vista Oval, Francisco Crescent Reserve and Village Green.
