Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Smithfield in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (135 people or 16.2%)
  • Retail Trade (104 people or 12.5%)
  • Manufacturing (91 people or 10.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 330 people in total or 39.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Playford North Urban Renewal area employed 16.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.5% in Retail Trade; and 10.0% in Manufacturing.
