Hillbank is bounded by the Whitford Road alignment in the north, the locality of Gould Creek in the east, the Little Para River in the south, and Main North Road, Shandon Court, Blackburn Road and an alignment running north between Chesterfield Walk and Cardnell Crescent in the west.

Name origin

Hillbank was previously known as Elizabeth Heights.

Settlement history

Development of the area dates primarily from the 1970s, with growth initially in the south. Rapid growth took place during the 1990s, with the population doubling between 1991 and 2001. The population was then relatively stable between 2001 and 2011, a result of few new dwellings being added to the area and a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.
