Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Croydon in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,154 people or 15.4%)
  • Construction (1,579 people or 11.3%)
  • Retail Trade (1,354 people or 9.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 5,087 people in total or 36.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Yarra Ranges Shire employed 13.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 14.9% in Construction; and 9.0% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Croydon and Yarra Ranges Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (15.4% compared to 13.1%)
