Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Sefton in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (151 males or 13.3%)
  • Construction (132 males or 11.7%)
  • Manufacturing (121 males or 10.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 404 males in total or 35.7% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, the City of Canterbury Bankstown employed 10.9% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing; 13.0% in Construction; and 7.8% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Sefton and the City of Canterbury Bankstown were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in manufacturing (10.7% compared to 7.8%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (13.3% compared to 10.9%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in wholesale trade (5.3% compared to 3.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (4.2% compared to 5.7%)
