Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Ashbury in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (99 males or 12.7%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (93 males or 11.9%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (58 males or 7.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 250 males in total or 32.1% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Canterbury Ward employed 12.8% in Construction; 9.5% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 6.2% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Ashbury and Canterbury Ward were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (11.9% compared to 9.5%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in information media and telecommunications (4.7% compared to 2.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in retail trade (5.5% compared to 8.9%)
