Dominant groups
Analysis of the male five year age groups of Sefton in 2021 compared to Yagoona shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 21.3% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 12.6% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 22.7% and 13.9% respectively for Yagoona.
The major differences between the male age structure of Sefton and Yagoona were:
- A larger percentage of males aged 10 to 14 (8.9% compared to 7.2%)
- A larger percentage of males aged 15 to 19 (8.4% compared to 7.0%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 0 to 4 (6.1% compared to 7.7%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 5 to 9 (6.4% compared to 7.8%)
Emerging groups
From 2001 to 2021, Sefton's male population increased by 921 people (40.6%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.72% per year over the period.
The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2001 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 55 to 59 (+126 males)
- 20 to 24 (+123 males)
- 10 to 14 (+117 males)
- 60 to 64 (+100 males)
