Dominant groups

Analysis of the share of the male population attending educational institutions in Canterbury in 2021 compared to Bankstown CBD shows that there was a lower proportion attending primary school, a lower proportion attending secondary school, and a higher proportion engaged in tertiary level education.

Overall, 5.6% of the male population were attending primary school, 4.3% of the male population were attending secondary institutions, and 10.1% were learning at a tertiary level, compared with 8.2%, 5.1% and 8.9% respectively for Bankstown CBD.

The major differences between the share of the male population attending learning institutions in Canterbury and Bankstown CBD were:

  • A larger percentage of males not attending (69.6% compared to 64.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of males attending a primary school (any type) (5.6% compared to 8.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of males attending an independent primary school (0.3% compared to 1.6%)
