Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Sunshine in 2011 compared to City of Brimbank shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 28.5% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 12.3% were one-parent families, compared with 38.4% and 14.6% respectively for City of Brimbank.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 23.7% compared to 17.1% in City of Brimbank while the proportion of couples without children was 22.3% compared to 20.6% in City of Brimbank.
