Dominant groups

Analysis of the language used at home by the population of East Ward in 2021 compared to Dural - Middle Dural shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who used English only, and a larger proportion of those using a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 54.4% of the population used English only, and 43.1% used a non-English language, compared with 79.9% and 17.7% respectively for Dural - Middle Dural.

The dominant language used at home, other than English, in East Ward was Mandarin, with 11.7% of the population, or 5,157 people using this language at home.

The major differences between the languages used at home for the population of East Ward and Dural - Middle Dural in 2021 were:
