Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by the population of Sunshine in 2011 compared to City of Brimbank shows that there was a larger proportion of people who spoke English only, and a smaller proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 40.4% of the population spoke English only, and 52.3% spoke a non-English language, compared with 37.9% and 56.2% respectively for City of Brimbank.

The dominant language spoken at home, other than English, in Sunshine was Vietnamese, with 14.1% of the population, or 1,244 people speaking this language at home.
