Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Smithfield in 2011 compared to the City of Playford shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 19.7% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 22.2% were one-parent families, compared with 28.2% and 17.4% respectively for the City of Playford.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 25.7% compared to 24.2% in the City of Playford while the proportion of couples without children was 22.0% compared to 22.6% in the City of Playford.
