Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Sunshine in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (299 males or 12.2%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (258 males or 10.5%)
  • Manufacturing (241 males or 9.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 798 males in total or 32.6% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Taylors Lakes - Keilor Lodge employed 18.5% in Construction; 12.0% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing; and 9.4% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Sunshine and Taylors Lakes - Keilor Lodge were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (7.3% compared to 5.0%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in education and training (5.8% compared to 3.7%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (5.6% compared to 3.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (12.2% compared to 18.5%)
