Dominant groups
Analysis of the female five year age groups of Sunshine in 2021 compared to the Sydenham District shows that there was a higher proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 16.3% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 15.4% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 14.6% and 17.4% respectively for the Sydenham District.
The major differences between the female age structure of Sunshine and the Sydenham District were:
- A larger percentage of females aged 30 to 34 (10.4% compared to 6.3%)
- A larger percentage of females aged 25 to 29 (9.7% compared to 6.4%)
- A larger percentage of females aged 35 to 39 (8.5% compared to 6.0%)

From 2001 to 2021, Sunshine's female population increased by 663 people (17.0%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.79% per year over the period.
The largest changes in female age structure in this area between 2001 and 2021 were in the age groups:

- 30 to 34 (+166 females)
- 35 to 39 (+134 females)
- 60 to 64 (+113 females)
