Parkside is bounded by Greenhill Road in the north, Glen Osmond Road and Fullarton Road in the east, Randolph Avenue and Cremorne Street in the south and Windsor Street, Maud Street and Unley Road in the west.

Name origin

Parkside was named for its location, adjacent to the Adelaide Park Lands.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the late 1840s, with gradual growth in the 1870s and 1880s. Land was used mainly for farming, orcharding, grazing and dairying. Significant development occurred in the early to mid 1900s. The population and dwelling stock were relatively stable between 1991 and 2011.

Land use

Parkside is an established residential area, with commercial areas along Glen Osmond Road.

Major features of the area include Henry Codd Reserve, Hackett Reserve, Howard Florey Reserve, McLeay Reserve, Windsor Street Reserve, Leicester Street Playground, Parkside Primary School and St Raphael’s School.
