Name origin

Fullarton is named after Jane Fullarton, the wife of an early land holder.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the 1840s, with gradual growth in the 1870s and 1880s. Land was used mainly for farming, orcharding, grazing and dairying. Significant development occurred in the early to mid 1900s. The population and dwelling stock fluctuated slightly between 2001 and 2011.

Fullarton is an established residential area, with commercial areas along Glen Osmond Road.
