There were more male technicians and trades workers in Rockhampton in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Rockhampton in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Technicians and Trades Workers (4,968 males or 26.5%)
  • Machinery Operators And Drivers (3,065 males or 16.4%)
  • Labourers (2,815 males or 15.0%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 10,848 males in total or 58.0% of the employed male resident population.

In comparison, Regional QLD employed 25.1% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 12.7% in Machinery Operators And Drivers; and 13.7% in Labourers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Rockhampton and Regional QLD were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (16.4% compared to 12.7%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (26.5% compared to 25.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Managers (9.6% compared to 14.7%)
