Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Growth LGAs in NSW in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (138,517 people or 22.3%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (95,625 people or 15.4%)
- Managers (77,690 people or 12.5%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 311,832 people in total or 50.1% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) employed 18.4% in Professionals; 13.9% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 11.0% in Managers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Growth LGAs in NSW and National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (22.3% compared to 18.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (12.0% compared to 14.7%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (10.1% compared to 12.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Labourers (8.2% compared to 10.0%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed people in Growth LGAs in NSW increased by 78,927 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of residents between 2016 and 2021 in Growth LGAs in NSW were for those employed as:
- Professionals (+36,912 persons)
- Managers (+17,101 persons)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (+9,248 persons)
- Machinery Operators And Drivers (+6,692 persons)
