Dominant groups

Analysis of the country of birth of the population in the National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) in 2011 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a smaller proportion of people born overseas, as well as a smaller proportion of people from a non-English speaking background.

Overall, 30.6% of the population was born overseas, and 20.0% were from a non-English speaking background, compared with 34.2% and 26.3% respectively for Greater Sydney.

The largest non-English speaking country of birth in the National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) was India, where 2.3% of the population, or 66,430 people, were born.

The major differences between the countries of birth of the population in the National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) and Greater Sydney were:
