Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Growth LGAs in SA in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Technicians and Trades Workers (8,830 people or 14.8%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (8,498 people or 14.2%)
- Professionals (8,270 people or 13.9%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 25,598 people in total or 42.9% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Growth LGAs in Queensland employed 15.0% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 12.9% in Community and Personal Service Workers; and 16.6% in Professionals.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Growth LGAs in SA and Growth LGAs in Queensland were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed as Labourers (13.5% compared to 11.0%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (14.2% compared to 12.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Professionals (13.9% compared to 16.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (12.2% compared to 14.1%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed people in Growth LGAs in SA increased by 20,372 between 2006 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of residents between 2006 and 2021 in Growth LGAs in SA were for those employed as:
- Community and Personal Service Workers (+4,560 persons)
- Professionals (+3,726 persons)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (+2,683 persons)
- Managers (+2,266 persons)
