Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by the population of Scoresby in 2011 compared to the City of Knox shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who spoke English only, and a larger proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 70.8% of the population spoke English only, and 27.0% spoke a non-English language, compared with 76.4% and 21.1% respectively for the City of Knox.

The dominant language spoken at home, other than English, in Scoresby was Mandarin, with 3.8% of the population, or 226 people speaking this language at home.
