Settlement history

The area remained predominantly rural until the 1970s. Significant development occurred from the 1980s. Rapid growth took place from the early 1990s, with the population doubling between 1991 and 2001. Growth continued between 2001 and 2006, although at a slower rate, a result of large numbers of new dwellings being added to the area, particularly in the northern section. The population was relatively stable between 2006 and 2011 as few new dwellings were added to the area and the average number of persons living in each dwelling declined.
