Analysis of the five year age groups of CAD East in 2016 compared to City of Adelaide shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 3.9% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 9.5% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 5.5% and 13.0% respectively for City of Adelaide.
The major differences between the age structure of CAD East and City of Adelaide were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (32.3% compared to 21.3%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (16.3% compared to 13.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 50 to 54 (3.0% compared to 5.1%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 45 to 49 (2.9% compared to 4.6%)
From 2011 to 2016, CAD East's population increased by 441 people (19.0%). This represents an average annual population change of 3.53% per year over the period.
