Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from 1836. Growth was gradual until the 1870s. Rapid development took place in the late 1800s, continuing into the early 1900s. The population declined from the late 1940s, with gradual growth from the 1970s. The population increased from the early 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area, with the most rapid growth between 2001 and 2006.
