A high level of unemployment or low participation rate (the percentage of the population in the labour force) can indicate a community of recent migrants with difficulties adjusting to economic life in Australia, and perhaps with a reliance on government benefits.

Dominant groups
The size of the City of Playford's Dinka speaking labour force in 2021 was 325 persons, of which 125 were employed part-time and 121 were full time workers.
Analysis of the employment status (as a percentage of the labour force) of Dinka speakers in the City of Playford in 2021 compared to Greater Adelaide shows that there was a higher proportion in employment, and a similar proportion unemployed. Overall, 83.1% of the Dinka speaking labour force was employed, and 10.2% unemployed, compared with 81.2% and 10.5% respectively for Greater Adelaide.
Analysis of the Dinka speaking labour force participation rate of the population in the City of Playford in 2021 shows that there was a higher proportion in the labour force (69.6%) compared with Greater Adelaide (67.4%).
Emerging groups
Between 2016 and 2021, the number of Dinka speaking population employed in the City of Playford showed an increase of 127 people and the number unemployed showed a decrease of 11 people. In the same period, the number of people in the labour force showed an increase of 107 people, or 49.1%.
