Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Playford in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (3,238 males or 15.4%)
  • Manufacturing (2,903 males or 13.8%)
  • Retail Trade (2,147 males or 10.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 8,288 males in total or 39.4% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Adelaide employed 14.2% in Construction; 9.4% in Manufacturing; and 8.7% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Playford and Greater Adelaide were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in manufacturing (13.8% compared to 9.4%)
