Dominant groups

Analysis of the male service age groups of Growth LGAs in NSW in 2021 compared to the City of Rockingham shows that there was a similar proportion of males in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (60+ years).

Overall, 27.2% of the male population was aged between 0 and 17, and 16.3% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 26.8% and 18.6% respectively for the City of Rockingham .

The major differences between the male age structure of Growth LGAs in NSW and the City of Rockingham were:

  • A larger percentage of 'Parents and homebuilders' (22.1% compared to 19.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Older workers & pre-retirees' (11.2% compared to 12.8%)

  • Primary schoolers (5 to 11) (+12,330 males)
