Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Growth LGAs in Victoria in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (69,170 females or 22.0%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (66,125 females or 21.1%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (60,574 females or 19.3%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 195,869 females in total or 62.4% of the employed female resident population.

In comparison, the City of Ipswich employed 20.4% in Professionals; 21.5% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 20.4% in Community and Personal Service Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Growth LGAs in Victoria and the City of Ipswich were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed as Professionals (22.0% compared to 20.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (19.3% compared to 20.4%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Growth LGAs in Victoria increased by 73,915 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of female residents between 2016 and 2021 in Growth LGAs in Victoria were for those employed as:

  • Professionals (+23,205 females)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+17,126 females)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (+8,574 females)
  • Managers (+7,842 females)
