Dominant groups

Analysis of the language used at home by the population of Growth LGAs in Queensland in 2021 compared to the City of Mandurah shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who used English only, and a larger proportion of those using a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 82.4% of the population used English only, and 12.2% used a non-English language, compared with 87.2% and 6.9% respectively for the City of Mandurah .

The dominant language used at home, other than English, in Growth LGAs in Queensland was Samoan, with 0.9% of the population, or 11,401 people using this language at home.

There were no major differences between Growth LGAs in Queensland and City of Mandurah in 2021.
