Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in The Hills Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (12,690 people or 13.2%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (11,146 people or 11.6%)
- Education and Training (8,942 people or 9.3%)
In combination, these three industries employed 32,778 people in total or 34.0% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Australia employed 14.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 7.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 8.8% in Education and Training.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of The Hills Shire and Australia were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (8.1% compared to 3.7%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (11.6% compared to 7.8%)
