Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Moreton Bay Region in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (20,215 males or 18.2%)
  • Manufacturing (10,040 males or 9.1%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (9,484 males or 8.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 39,739 males in total or 35.8% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Queensland employed 15.2% in Construction; 8.2% in Manufacturing; and 7.0% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Moreton Bay Region and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (18.2% compared to 15.2%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (8.6% compared to 7.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (1.5% compared to 3.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in mining (1.9% compared to 3.7%)

The largest changes in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Moreton Bay Region were for those employed in:

  • Construction (+2,309 males)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+2,118 males)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+1,263 males)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (+983 males)
