Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Kwinana in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,070 people or 14.4%)
  • Retail Trade (2,016 people or 9.4%)
  • Construction (1,992 people or 9.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 7,078 people in total or 33.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the District Council of Mount Barker employed 15.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.5% in Retail Trade; and 9.8% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Kwinana and the District Council of Mount Barker were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in mining (6.4% compared to 1.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (5.8% compared to 3.1%)
