Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Armadale in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (6,485 people or 14.6%)
  • Retail Trade (4,264 people or 9.6%)
  • Construction (4,092 people or 9.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 14,841 people in total or 33.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Brisbane employed 15.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.0% in Retail Trade; and 8.6% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Armadale and Greater Brisbane were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in mining (5.8% compared to 1.1%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (6.6% compared to 5.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (5.4% compared to 8.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (1.8% compared to 3.3%)
