Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Cockburn in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (4,924 males or 15.2%)
  • Manufacturing (3,209 males or 9.9%)
  • Mining (2,914 males or 9.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 11,047 males in total or 34.2% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, the Shire of Cardinia employed 22.4% in Construction; 12.8% in Manufacturing; and 0.5% in Mining.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Cockburn and the Shire of Cardinia were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in mining (9.0% compared to 0.5%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (7.4% compared to 5.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (15.2% compared to 22.4%)
