Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Growth LGAs in SA in 2021 compared to the Shire of Cardinia shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 29.1% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 15.9% were one-parent families, compared with 38.3% and 11.7% respectively for the Shire of Cardinia .

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 23.8% compared to 18.5% in the Shire of Cardinia while the proportion of couples without children was 22.7% compared to 24.1% in the Shire of Cardinia .
