Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Growth LGAs in WA in 2021 compared to the City of Cockburn shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a similar proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 21.3% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 13.7% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.5% and 13.5% respectively for the City of Cockburn .

The major differences between the age structure of Growth LGAs in WA and the City of Cockburn were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 10 to 14 (7.0% compared to 6.2%)
