Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Growth LGAs in WA in 2021 compared to the City of Cockburn shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a similar proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 21.9% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 13.7% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.9% and 13.6% respectively for the City of Cockburn .
The major differences between the age structure of Growth LGAs in WA and the City of Cockburn were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (7.5% compared to 6.7%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 10 to 14 (7.2% compared to 6.4%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 15 to 19 (6.3% compared to 5.6%)

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 1991 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 35 to 39 (+48,245 persons)
- 50 to 54 (+45,124 persons)
- 45 to 49 (+43,198 persons)
- 30 to 34 (+42,771 persons)
