Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Growth LGAs in NSW in 2021 compared to the City of Wyndham shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 22.3% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 12.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 25.4% and 7.6% respectively for the City of Wyndham .
The major differences between the age structure of Growth LGAs in NSW and the City of Wyndham were:
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 35 to 39 (8.3% compared to 11.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (7.4% compared to 9.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 0 to 4 (7.3% compared to 9.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (7.7% compared to 9.2%)
Emerging groups
From 2006 to 2021, Growth LGAs in NSW's population increased by 418,250 people (43.2%). This represents an average annual population change of 2.42% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2006 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 35 to 39 (+41,337 persons)
- 30 to 34 (+30,259 persons)
- 65 to 69 (+30,215 persons)
- 60 to 64 (+29,699 persons)
