Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Growth LGAs in WA in 2021 compared to the Shire of Mitchell shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 21.9% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 13.7% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 20.9% and 14.7% respectively for the Shire of Mitchell .
The major differences between the age structure of Growth LGAs in WA and the Shire of Mitchell were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 40 to 44 (6.8% compared to 6.1%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 35 to 39 (7.9% compared to 7.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 60 to 64 (5.0% compared to 5.7%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (4.3% compared to 4.8%)
Emerging groups
From 2011 to 2021, Growth LGAs in WA's population increased by 255,393 people (35.3%). This represents an average annual population change of 3.07% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2011 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 35 to 39 (+23,083 persons)
- 30 to 34 (+22,278 persons)
- 5 to 9 (+20,613 persons)
- 55 to 59 (+17,596 persons)
