Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the National Growth Areas Alliance compared to Growth LGAs in WA shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 6.8% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 4.8% for Growth LGAs in WA.
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Growth LGAs in Queensland and Growth LGAs in WA were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (51.0% compared to 45.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (29.4% compared to 25.8%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (19.7% compared to 16.3%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (13.7% compared to 10.8%)
Emerging groups
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2011 and 2021 in Growth LGAs in Queensland were in the age groups:
- 20 to 59 (+9,663 persons)
- 10 to 19 (+5,464 persons)
- 70 to 74 (+4,149 persons)
- 75 to 79 (+4,006 persons)
