Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the National Growth Areas Alliance compared to the City of Wanneroo shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 5.5% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 4.4% for the City of Wanneroo .

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Growth LGAs in Victoria and the City of Wanneroo were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (37.5% compared to 25.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (24.8% compared to 16.1%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (56.4% compared to 49.3%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (17.2% compared to 10.6%)

Emerging groups

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2006 and 2021 in Growth LGAs in Victoria were in the age groups:

  • 20 to 59 (+14,287 persons)
  • 10 to 19 (+5,760 persons)
  • 85 and over (+5,594 persons)
