Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types of Punjabi speakers in the City of Knox in 2021 compared to Victoria shows that there was a higher proportion of Punjabi speakers in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 77.3% of Punjabi speakers were in couple families with child(ren), and 4.7% were one-parent families, compared with 73.0% and 3.5% respectively for Victoria.
There were a lower proportion of Punjabi speakers in lone person households and a similar proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of Punjabi speakers in lone person households was 1.2% compared to 1.7% in Victoria while the proportion in couples without children was 12.4% compared to 12.8% in Victoria.
