Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in The Basin in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (260 females or 22.6%)
  • Education and Training (145 females or 12.6%)
  • Retail Trade (126 females or 11.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 531 females in total or 46.3% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Wantirna South employed 22.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.3% in Education and Training; and 11.8% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of The Basin and Wantirna South were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in public administration and safety (5.8% compared to 4.2%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in construction (3.8% compared to 2.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in financial and insurance services (3.0% compared to 5.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (5.0% compared to 7.5%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in The Basin increased by 71 between 2016 and 2021.

There were no major differences in The Basin between 2016 and 2021.
