Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in The Basin in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (292 males or 25.0%)
  • Manufacturing (139 males or 11.9%)
  • Retail Trade (95 males or 8.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 526 males in total or 45.0% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Wantirna South employed 12.4% in Construction; 9.4% in Manufacturing; and 9.8% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of The Basin and Wantirna South were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (25.0% compared to 12.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.3% compared to 11.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (3.9% compared to 6.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (3.3% compared to 5.9%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in The Basin decreased by 1 between 2016 and 2021.
