Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in The Basin in 2021 compared to Chandler Ward shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 37.6% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.8% were one-parent families, compared with 31.6% and 11.4% respectively for Chandler Ward.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 18.6% compared to 24.5% in Chandler Ward while the proportion of couples without children was 27.0% compared to 25.4% in Chandler Ward.
