Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of females in the City of Knox compared to Wantirna shows that there was a higher proportion of females who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 6.4% of the female population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 5.5% for Wantirna.

The major differences in the female age groups reporting a need for assistance in Ferntree Gully and Wantirna were:

  • A larger percentage of females aged 85 and over (58.5% compared to 49.6%)
  • A larger percentage of females aged 80 to 84 (32.9% compared to 27.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females aged 65 to 69 (9.4% compared to 6.0%)
